Can I apply for a Woodland Creation Grant 2018?

Woodland Creation Grant 2018

If you’re planning to plant woodland on 1 hectare to over 10 hectares, you could be eligible for financial support in the shape of a Woodland Creation Grant!  To help plant more trees and increase woodland cover in England, whilst also helping landowners to diversify their businesses, you can apply NOW.  What are you waiting for?!

Your Woodland Creation Grant

Window for application is open 2 January – 16 February 2018

If you’re a farm owner, land manager, farm agent or tenant or involved with a business or public body that owns land, you may be eligible for grant funding.  If so, and your planting plans include the creation of new hedgerows for the enhancement of the wildlife habitat and landscape, you should read on (and there’s a handy decision tree we featured in 2017 that may help you, too!)

Apply now

You can apply for grants of up to £6,800 per hectare to support ground preparation, tree planting, fencing and tree protection and initial maintenance, plus an option to subsequently apply for a maintenance payment for up to 10 years, covering the initial period while trees get established.

As of 2 January, you can submit an application for a Countryside Stewardship Woodland Creation Grant.  To apply, submit your completed application and supporting documents to Natural England Technical Services by midnight on 16 February 2018.

For more information and to download your application form please see the Woodland Support page on GOV.UK.
