Let’s get our children involved in farms, agriculture and the Great British countryside

The team here at www.treesandhedging.co.uk will be donating 1p per bare root plant* sold online this season to a new Anniversary Charitable Partner – and that’s a lot of plants!

To support British Hardwood Tree Nursery (our parent company) in their 25 year anniversary celebrations, the team here at www.treesandhedging.co.uk will be donating 1p per bare root plant* purchased this season online to a new Anniversary Charitable Partner.

Researching and selecting a charity, we wanted to work with an organisation who shared our vision to support the UK farming, countryside and forestry communities from the ground up – and that means through children and young people.  And we found the perfect fit in FACE Farming and Countryside Education.

FACE Farming and Countryside EducationFACE is a registered charity whose primary aim is to educate children and young people about food and farming in a sustainable countryside.  With over 80 partner membership organisations, FACE are committed to providing educational support to promote the importance of our UK food, farming and countryside industries.  Sadly, there is a all-too-often a disassociation with children, young people and their families as to where their food comes from and what exciting opportunities the countryside has in store for them for play, leisure, social and employment activities.

With British Hardwood Tree Nursery and www.treesandhedging.co.uk as the newest FACE partners, we will support the organisation and their partners in their promotion of farm visits and the provision of easier access to educational resources and activities that can support children’s current and future school studies.

The charity is also backed by the comedian, Bill Bailey, who helped the organisation spell out their message with a little humour in this natty little FACE video below.

Whilst our active support and promotion of FACE within the UK is important, the most direct contribution we can make is in the form of donations – hence the penny per bare root plant sold online this season – but don’t let that stop you donating directly to FACE to show your support to the cause.  You can visit their website and donate here – and if you’re feeling social – they’re on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube, too!

Support us and FACE and let’s get our children involved in farms, agriculture and the Great British countryside!

* Excludes combination packs and fruit trees.
