Thank you for supporting FACE charity with your plant purchases

On the back of another successful bare root season, we’ve not just been promoting planting, improving our environment and fuelling the green lungs of the planet, we’ve also been giving direct support to our nominated Charity Partner, FACE Farming and Countryside Education.

thank-youAll season long we’ve been encouraging our customers to buy bare root plants online at  For every plant purchased from a selection of hedging varieties, we’ve pledged a penny per plant as a donation to FACE to help them support UK farming, countryside and farming communities from the ground up – and that means children and young people.

We’ve totted up all our plant sales and other fundraising activity and are pleased to announce that this season we will be donating a handsome £650 to FACE – THANK YOU!

Zoe Henderson who runs the online website at said that the Charity was a “perfect fit” as they celebrated their quarter-of-a-century milestone:

“We wanted to work with a like-minded charity to celebrate our 25th season supplying plants across the UK.  We chose FACE as they shared our support of UK farming, countryside and farming communities from the ground up – and that means children and young people.”

Janet Hickinbottom is the FACE National Education Officer and our main point of contact over the season.

“We were thrilled when Trees and Hedging contacted us to propose we become their Charity Partner in their anniversary season.  Our charity thrives on funds from our corporate and private partners and we’re so happy that these donation came from sales of young plants that are now growing in gardens, hedgerows and land across the UK countryside.  Thank you, Trees and Hedging!”

FACE Farming and Countryside Education, a registered charity based in Warwickshire, has a primary aim to educate children and young people about food and farming in a sustainable countryside.  With over 80 partner membership organisations, FACE are committed to providing educational support to promote the importance of our UK food, farming and countryside industries.  Sadly there is a widespread disassociation with children, young people and their families as to where their food comes from and what opportunities lie for them in the countryside for leisure, social and employment activities.

Our partnership and funds raised from our anniversary activities will help to support FACE and their partners in the promotion of farm visits and the provision of easier access to educational resources and activities that can support the children’s current and future school studies.

Thank you again for your support this season for FACE but don’t stop there – let’s continue getting our children involved in farms, agriculture and the Great British countryside!

Please visit the FACE website and donate here  – and if you’re feeling social, they’re on Twitter,Facebook and Youtube, too!
